Handicapped Care

At the end of 2005 Ceylon Christian Care decided to start a Day Care Project for physically and mentally handicapped children on Sri Lanka. Parents with handicapped children are in a difficult situation. Many people think that evil ghosts or demons are inside these children. With the opening of a special Day Care Project for these children, Ceylon Christian Care would like to help these children, the families and the community.

Pediatrician Geriska Poortman visited in February 2006 Sri Lanka and selected the first 8 children to start the program. For more information read her report “Medical Care in Periyaneelavanai”.

This project is managed by two wardens. They received their training at  handicapped projects of other organizations and experienced nurses from the Netherlands.
