Translation Project of the Children's Bible of H. van Dam In 2004 we found that there was no children’s Bible available in Tamil on Sri Lanka. We also found that there was a need for such a Bible for the families, the orphan homes, the schools and the churches (Sunday schools). In the Netherlands we selected the H. van Dam’s children’s Bible for translation. We were happy that publishing house Den Hertog in the Netherlands gave us permission for this. Shanta, the wife of Rev. Jeyanesan, started in Feb 2004 with the translation of the English version of this children’s Bible into Tamil.

The translation and proof reading was finished in Nov 2004. However, the tsunami delayed the first printing. In July 2005 the first 1,500 copies were printed and the distribution started. This children’s Bible was well received. We got requests from all kinds of churches if they could get this Bible. We also received requests from churches in Tamil Nadu in India. Within two months the first edition was distributed. In Aug 2005 we got the request if we could deliver 2,000 more children’s Bibles for Sri Lanka and 1,500 for India. This second edition was printed in December 2005 in India and delivered in January 2006. We have estimated that there is still a need for more children’s Bibles. It is our wish and prayer that the Lord will bless this children’s Bible for many people. The first edition was printed on Sri Lanka. However we found the costs too high (10 Euro each). For the second edition we found a printer in India. Including transport to Sri Lanka and import tax we pay now 5 Euro each. |

In 2004 the Tamil version of the childrens bible of H. Van Dam came available in the Tamil language. Until today thousands of copies have been distributed to the Tamil people on Sri Lanka and in India.
Hereafter the need came to get material in the Tamil language available handling the christian fundamentals. Many people on Sri Lanka grow up without the Bible so the material needed to be simple to read en understand. It was difficult to find suitable English material. Finally the decision was taken to take the 4 books of the serial “Kom’t Kinderen” (Come Children) of Mrs Hartingsveldt-Moree for translation (Learn from Me, Pray to Me, Listen to Me and Come to Me).
Translation of the books of the serial “Come Children” of Mrs. Hartingsveldt-Moree The fundamentals of the Christian believe are handled in approximately 250 chapters. Every chapter handles a topic. The structure of each chapter is: a Bible reading, the explanation, a Psalter to sing and questions. These books will be used by the Christian School John’s Academy , in the homes and in the churches. The books are written in Dutch and the first step is the translation into English. This is done by Mrs. Angela Grisnich from Lethbridge in Canada. After translation the text is going to Sri Lanka where the Mrs. Shanta, the wife of Rev Jeyanesan is taking care for the translation into the Tamil language. We are happy that publishing house “De Banier” gave us al the rights to translate these books into English and Tamil and provided to us all material needed for this project to us. It is our wish and prayer that the Lord will bless this work and that it will guide many people to Him and our savior Jesus Christ.
