Word & Deed is a Dutch charity foundation and wants to fight poverty in Africa, Asia and Central America. In Sri Lanka Word & Deed and Ceylon Christian Care work together in the area of education and since Dec. 26th 2004 on tsunami relief programs.
Education Word and Deed sponsors the VTC’s (Vocational Training Center) in Batticaloa and Periyaneelavanai. On these VTC’s boys and girls of 18-19 years old get during one year a practical training. This helps them to find a job and earn income. Tsunami Relief Support After the Tsunami of Dec 26 2004 Word and Deed gave tremendous support in the areas from first to third phase support. During the first phase the people received food and clothes, during the second phase money, nets, tools and more. During the third and last phase a program to rebuild 300 permanent houses was started. |
